On Saturday night we attended the Logan City Sports Awards. We were nominated in the category of Sports Event of the Year for our Pink Stumps Day held in February 2021, where we raised over $33,000.
Unfortunately, we didn’t win the award, and we send our congratulations to the winners, Griffith University Fun Run. Obviously, we don’t do it for the accolades, it was an honour to be on the nominee’s list. I wanted to share my acceptance speech, that I would have given if we’d won because the words are important for me to share:
“We are so honoured to be a part of such a worthy event where we get to contribute to a cause that is so important for so many people. We are also extremely thankful for the phenomenal support of our local councillor Scott Bannan, who has been a part of this event over the past few years and will forever share the story of the greatest catch ever…taken by him.
Although this Pink Stumps event is organised and facilitated by us the cricket club committee, the success of this event every year is a complete testament to the incredible generosity and support of the individuals and businesses that are within our community. We are beyond grateful that they support this event so passionately every year and we honestly couldn’t do it without them. Thank you.”
Truly, all of you, our supporters, are the reason our Pink Stumps Day has been so incredibly successful for the past two years. It is the biggest event on our calendar, and indeed on the community calendar. We are so excited to put on the event each year and it takes a fair bit of planning. But your support of it honestly means the world to us, and obviously to those who benefit from the money raised. We hope that you continue to support this event, and help it grow in the coming years. The Bushrangers are so proud to be part of such a wonderful community. We hope to see you all at the next Pink Stumps Day on 12th February 2022.
Cheers,
