Bushrangers Senior Div 1 Premiers!

Day 1 :

The minor premiers Jimboomba first X1 travelled to Selwyn park to take on the Beaudesert team in a 2-day grand final.

Skipper Ash Hughes won the toss and elected to bat first. Hughes & fellow opener Kim Watson were watchful and patient in building a partnership. Watson was dispatching the bowling attack to the boundary often and over the fence several times. The pair bought up another brilliant century partnership before Hughes fell on 29 this ended a superb 129 run partnership. Watson fell a few overs later for a brilliant 96 off 140 deliveries which included 8 boundaries & 7 sixes.

Kel Maguire scored 26 and some late innings hitting from Reid Breeze 33 off 29 deliveries which included 7 boundaries, Craig Tatters 21 off 18 balls & Rodney Teese 18 off 21 balls. At the close of the innings after 75 overs the Bushies were 9-266. The Beaudesert batsman had a tricky 11 overs to face. Tony Pentecost & Nathan Mackenzie found their rhythm early and were bowling in the right areas. Mackenzie struck first with a nice catch taken by wicketkeeper Shannon White. Pentecost found the outside edge and a great catch was taken by Reid Breeze at 3rd slip. At the close of play, Beaudesert were 2-21 with Pentecost figures of 1-17 off 6 and Nathan Mackenzie 1-4 off 5 overs which includes 4 maidens.

Day 2 :

The play was delayed for 15 mins due to light rain when the umpires were happy to start the day’s play, Beaudesert resumed on 2-21. Tony Pentecost & Nathan Mackenzie continued bowling in the right area and when the score was on 43 Pentecost took the wicket the Bushrangers were wanting. Pentecost struck again not long after leaving Beaudesert 4-61. Bushies dropped a few catches and a partnership was forming. Craig Tatters finally broke the 68 run partnership and then struck again the first ball of his next over and was on a hat trick, leaving Beaudesert 6-145. Unfortunately, the hat trick didn’t happen. The 7th wicket was taken with a brilliant piece of fielding by Kim Watson at mid-wicket a direct throw at the stumps from side on and the batsman was out by 4m. At the tea break, the Beaudesert team were 7-170 leaving them 90 runs from 20 overs. Will Goss took the 8th with a sharp catch taken by Reid Breeze at mid-wicket.

Tony Pentecost grabbed his 4th wicket of the innings leaving Beaudesert 9-199. The last wicket was taken caught Mackenzie bowled Goss leaving Beaudesert all out for 220 handing Jimboomba a 46 run victory. Tony Pentecost bowled 25 overs during the innings and had figures of 4-74 he was well supported by Nathan Mackenzie 1-18 off 12 overs which included 7 maidens. Craig Tatters took 2-43 from 9 overs, Matt Reeve 0-33 from 8 overs Rodney Teese 0-16 from 7 overs and Will Goss 2-32 from 7.4 overs.
